After a two-year period of research into pressing needs in the community, the PAD Center was launched by the Junior League of Lynchburg (JLL) in 2021, with support from community stakeholders Gleaning for the World and the YWCA of Central Virginia.

As the primary founder, the JLL provided $50,000 to fund initial operations of the PAD Center, including a paid administrator position to serve as the coordinator of the program. With a long history of training women volunteers to improve their community, they provide a source of womanpower to pack immediate response kits and monthly subscription packets.

The JLL is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the action of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The JLL is committed to inclusivity and welcoming diverse individuals and organizations to join their Mission. Gleaning for the World facilitates daily operation of the PAD Center by providing warehouse space to store feminine hygiene products and assisting in transporting products to those in need, along with serving as a referring partner.

GFTW’s mission is to share the love of God at home and around the world through the efficient delivery of high quality, life-saving supplies to victims of poverty and devastation by connecting corporate surplus to critical needs. To learn more, please click here.

The YWCA of Central VA provides the physical location for the PAD Center Administrator to work and clients to pick up their subscription packets. They also serve as a referring partner by helping to enroll women in the monthly subscription program.

For over a hundred years, the YWCA of Central Virginia has been serving the women, children, and families of Central Virginia. Founded in 1912 by a dedicated group of women, the YWCA of Central Virginia has grown and adapted to meet the varying needs of the communities they serve. To learn more, please click here.
