The PAD Center is a week away from “opening” – this will be our first distribution of Immediate Response Kits to our referring partners. Below are a few updates as we have been hard at work!
PAD Center committee members met at Gleaning for the World on March 10th to sort donated items and begin packing IRKs. On March 27th, we were able to get the rest of the IRKs packed that will go out for the first round of IRK distribution. We had a healthy volunteer group from JLL and the Zeta Phi Beta sorority. Thank you to Jeane and her staff at GFTW for rolling up their sleeves to show us how packing and logistics is done – we averaged 500 kits per hour!
Over the course of this week, we will be contacting Referring Partners to coordinate their pick up appointments of the first round of Immediate Response Kits and referral forms. Those will take place on 4/5 and 4/9 at the YWCA Town Center. Thank you so much to Kathy Brown for arranging for the storage area in Town Center and the willingness to share space for this project!
As these kits are distributed, we will look for clients to get enrolled in monthly subscriptions (click here to enroll through our website). Hours of operation for the PAD Center at the YWCA Town Center are Monday 1pm – 6pm and Friday 10am – 3pm to begin. These hours are subject to change as we understand the schedules of our monthly subscribing clients, but this model offers flexibility for morning and evening hours.
Looking Ahead
- The week of 4/5 we have two TV interviews scheduled to get the word out to the community that we are ready to open!
- Soon we will be scheduling some in-town packing events for the remainder of supplies for about 1000 more IRKs.
- There will be more product orders going in to prepare for our monthly subscriptions.
